From 13 to 15 June the second high level event of FOOD2030, the initiative of the European Commission to create a Food Research Area, will take place in Plovdiv.

The Conference in Plovdiv is part of the official Programme of the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU and it is the second FOOD2030 high level event co-organized by the European Commission. The objective of the conference is to contribute to the development of a long term strategy that allows to achieve the priorities of the systematic approach called for by FOOD2030: nutrition for healthy and sustainable diets, climate and environmental sustainability, circularity and resource efficiency, innovation and empowering communities.

Trentino will also be represented at the Conference in Plovdiv. On 14 June Andrea Segré, President of Edmund Mach Foundation (FEM), will participate as speaker in the breakout session “How to build sustainable food systems by 2030?”.

On 13 June a side event entitled “Food in Regions – one health, from regionality to functionality” is scheduled. It is co-organized by ERRIN, FEM - supported by the EU Liaison Office of the Autonomous Province of Trento - and other regions members of ERRIN. Several regional good practices will be presented during the event. Kieran Tuhoy, of the R&I Centre of FEM, will showcase the experience of Trentino through the Euregio project “EFH Environment, Food & Health". The project, coordinated by FEM, involves nine research centres in the Euregio context and the Provinces of Trento, Bolzano and the Land Tyrol in collaboration with GECT Euregio Tyrol-South Tyrol-Trentino.
