Access to funds worth over 1 billion Euro for about 20,000 small and medium size enterprises: the agreement is the result of the cooperation between the European Investment Fund (EIF) and the Italian Guarantee Fund for SMEs, and it was concluded under the COSME programme, benefiting from the support of the European Fund for Strategic Investments (EFSI), the core of the investment Plan for Europe of Juncker Commission.

The counter-guarantee agreement allows the Guarantee Fund to supply over 1 billion Euros financing in the next 12 months through the Italian Confidi - mutual guarantee companies providing guarantees to SMEs throughout Italy. The aim of the agreement is to make credits easier to obtain for micro, small and medium enterprises, and thus support growth, innovation and job creation in our country.

This deal reflects the commitment of the European Investment Bank (EIB) to respond to calls from Member states, the European Commission and the European Parliament for a rapid deployment of concrete initiatives under EFSI, speeding up lending and guarantee operations capable of boosting growth and jobs in the EU.
