The 12th October the ICLEI event “Speeding up market-uptake of buildings renovation in Europe” took place at the common Representation of the European Region Tyrol-South Tyrol-Trentino in in Brussels. Different deputies of the regional and european politics and experts from all over Europe took part at the event.

The MEP Herbert Dorfmann introduced the topic and emphasized the importance of sustainable constructions for the future. In Europe, buildings are responsible for 40% of energy consumption and 36% of CO2 emissions. Currently, about 35% of the EU’s buildings are over 50 years old, and by improving the energy efficiency of its building stock the EU cold reduce its total energy consumption by 5-6% and lower CO2 emissions by about 5%.

The technical director of the KlimahausAgentur/Agenzia CasaClima Ulrich Klammsteiner, presented the innovative solution of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano/Bozen – South Tyrol. The Agency was founded in 2002 and is certifying Houses on their energetic level. It’s a voluntary certification, that certified from 2002 until now more than 8.000 buildings.
Also an expert of the Agency for Water and Energy (APRIE), Silvia Debiasi, took part at the event and presented innovative solutions of the construction sector in the Autonomous Province of Trento.
